What is Trop Rock?

Trop rock (short for tropical rock) is a laid-back style of music that blends rock, country, folk, reggae, and Caribbean influences. Inspired by sunshine, beaches, boats, and island life, the genre is closely associated with Jimmy Buffett and has grown into a community of artists and fans who enjoy good music, good times, and a little tropical escapism—no matter how far they live from the coast.
